I've attempted to install x86 many times. I keep getting this error right at 21% the third step of Upgrade.

Not able to go to next step
Its possible that its just a glitch you are experiencing as a result of trying upgrade from Windows XP. I would try clean install instead or re-run setup, I have experience similar issues with setup, after retrying, it installs (but this is a clean install scenario). -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "DaymItzJack" wrote in message

When I do customize and select "VISTADISK F:" (122 gb partition) it errors at 27% of Expanding files.

I also get the situation where it gets to about 27% expanding and then says it must reboot to continue. It reboots to a black screen. I inspected the disk following this and I have the following logs: smi-installer.log in $win..\windows, setupact.log and setperr.log in $win..\sources\panther, setupact.log and seupact.log in $win..\sources\rollback, and ntuser.dat.log, bcd-template.log, components.log, default.log, sam.log, security.log, software.log, system.log in $win..\windos\system32\config and schema.dat.log in $win..\system32\wmi\store\machine.
The smi-installer log seems to indicate it was [done}. The setupact.log in the panther folder had lots of stuff, a few warnings but nothing at the end to indicate a failure. The ones in rollback folder seems to be what happened after I brought XP back up.
Anyone interested in these files for diagnostic purposes?

Mine doesn't even ask to reboot, just errors.

Since some people are complete morons and post... how many is that? 6 threads about one thing in a row! I'm gonna post this since my topic is probably on the 50th page by now with people double posting.
